Quality Installation of Retrofits in BC Homes

These courses support installers and contractors on quality installation of air-source heat pumps and insulation in residential retrofit applications to shift the marketplace towards energy efficiency best practices.

This course covers best practices for the quality installation of insulation in residential retrofit applications specific to single-family homes in British Columbia. Upon successful completion of the course participants are eligible for 27 continuing professional development credits from BC Housing. Course Overview Safety Use of Hand Tools and Equipment Building Science Insulation Application Techniques Specialty Products/Installations Project Management Leadership Training Quality Control/Confirmation This online course is self-paced and takes approximately 33 hours to complete, including a final exam. Upon successful completion of the course participants are eligible for 21 continuing professional development credits from BC Housing. Course Overview How to evaluate existing HVAC systems at pre-changeout and develop installation strategies to optimize performance of replacement furnaces and heat pumps.  Opportunities to incorporate quality installation components designed to achieve improved comfort, equipment longevity, energy savings and greenhouse gas reductions for your customers.  Best practices on equipment commissioning and consumer education to support proper operation/maintenance. This online course is self-paced and takes approximately 30 hours to complete, including a final exam. Participants must achieve a passing grade of 70% on the final exam to receive a certificate of completion.
